By 2030, we want to see at least 1 in 4 people actively engaged with wildlife and we want everyone in Devon to make action for nature’s recovery part of their daily life. A key part of this will be to mobilise community action; to inspire and enable the creation of wildlife-friendly villages, parishes, towns and cities to support nature’s recovery in Devon.

Whether you need help to get your idea for a community group off the ground or you need some inspiration. We have a range of resources that will give you guidance and support through every step of your journey to creating a wilder community.

We have been inspired by the hundreds of communities across Devon leading amazing projects that are helping wildlife where they live, learn, work, or play, so we have launched a brand-new award to celebrate your efforts.

The Conservation Communities project worked in 11 parishes between Great Torrington and Hatherleigh, from 2020 until the end of 2022, to record as much about the natural environment as possible.

Updated biodiversity audits were produced for the 11 parishes that were covered by the Conservation Communities project from 2020 until the end of 2022.

Why we need new laws that will turn nature's recovery from an aspiration into a reality.

Woodah Farm has been chosen as one of 12 new projects taking place across England, helping the UK achieve its ambition of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050, supported by People’s Postcode Lottery. The Wilder Woodah project will see large areas of the farm returned to ‘natural processes’ to allow its soils to recover and nature to thrive.

Green Communities is a pioneering project that promotes nature neighbourhoods, connecting people and wildlife in the Keyham & West of the City, Devonport and Central Park.
