Imagine waking early on a summer morning and hearing.. nothing. No skylark spiralling its song into the sky, no rustle of hedgehogs along the hedgerows, no soft hum of insects weaving through meadows and gardens. These once ordinary moments are in danger of slipping away.

Together, we can restore lost wildlife in gardens, parks, nature reserves, landscapes and seas, so that nature can thrive for generations to come.

"We have supported Devon Wildlife Trust since making Devon our home more than thirty years ago. Our connection deepened when we helped secure Bystock Pools—one of the Trust’s most treasured reserves, where tranquil waters, open heathland and wildflower meadows come together to create a uniquely peaceful and diverse landscape.

In retirement, our sense of responsibility to protect the places that have shaped our lives has only grown stronger. Our lifelong love of wildlife and affinity for Devon’s rugged landscapes remind us how precious—and how vulnerable—these wild spaces are. Becoming founding Wildlife Patrons is our way of honouring that connection, and we warmly encourage others to join us in ensuring Devon’s remarkable natural places continue to thrive for generations to come."

  • Exclusive invitations to events to see the ‘behind the scenes’ work and walk through wild places with the people who restore them
  • Direct updates from the Chief Executive about successes, ongoing work and help to shape future plans.
  • The opportunity to meet with like-minded people seeking positive environmental change
  • Being first to know about new projects to benefit nature in our county
  • Acknowledgements on our website and in our Annual Report (with the option to remain anonymous if you prefer).

This is in addition to a copy of our wonderful in-house wildlife magazine ‘Wild Devon’ twice per year and a welcome pack if new to us.

"Since we arrived at Brook twenty years ago, kestrels and barn owls have returned; a colony of over 100 lesser horseshoe bats now breed in our barn; our hay meadows are alive with butterflies and orchids; and over thirty pairs of pied flycatchers return each year to our wood. At a time when the climate and biodiversity are in crisis, we believe that nature recovery must be our priority.

Devon Wildlife Trust shares the same commitment. DWT takes a grounded, practical approach to nature conservation across the whole county. They understand the landscapes, the communities, and the challenges - working with nature and people to deliver the best outcomes for wildlife in Devon.

We are delighted to support DWT by becoming founding Patrons. Devon is an amazing county, but our wildlife is still under threat here. It’s up to all of us to ensure that the wildlife and natural spaces we treasure still have a future in the decades ahead. The good news is that nature responds quickly when we give it space and care. Supporting DWT is one of the most effective ways we can make that happen at scale.

We are proud to support DWT, and I hope that everyone who cares about the future of Devon’s wildlife will do the same."

A message from our CEO

As Devon Wildlife Trust’s Chief Executive, I am delighted to invite you to become a Wildlife Patron, a vital part of achieving our vision of a Devon where nature thrives.

Devon Wildlife Trust is committed to reversing the current declines in nature, creating landscapes where wildlife can flourish once more. But we know that we cannot do this alone. We need far more people taking meaningful action for nature: farmers creating more space for nature on their land; developers building in a way that gives homes to nature as well as to people; businesses cutting their carbon footprint; and communities working together to improve the environment on their doorsteps.

We work to deliver nature recovery on the ground whilst also inspiring, supporting and advising others to take action themselves.

I hope that you will consider supporting Devon Wildlife Trust as a Wildlife Patron, helping to ensure that together we protect Devon’s wonderful wildlife, landscapes and seas.

Nick Bruce-White, Chief Executive, Devon Wildlife Trust
