An important planning inquiry is due to take place in the coming weeks that could influence how some of England's most important wildlife sites are protected in the future.
At the centre of the case is Wolborough Fen, one of Devon's most important wetlands and a Devon Wildlife Trust nature reserve for more than 50 years. The inquiry will consider if the developers have taken adequate steps to meet the planning conditions that were put in place to prevent damage to the fen.
Devon Wildlife Trust and the Wolborough Residents’ Association strongly believe, based on scientific evidence and expert advice, that this nationally important site, and Devon Wildlife Trust nature reserve, will be irreversibly damaged by this development if it is constructed in the proposed manner.
