Event details
About the event
Jamie Owen, is the Finding Nature's Footprints project assistant for the North Devon Coast National Landscape. In this role, he teaches people about wildlife and conservation, and helps them get involved with nature recovery action.
His speciality is the world of invertebrates. He fell in love with this underappreciated part of the animal kingdom while on placement in Borneo.
In his words:
“The sheer variety and abundance of butterflies, beetles, crickets, bugs, stick insects, snails, spiders, and more blew my mind, driving me to focus in on the spineless world of creepy crawlies as much as I could throughout my Zoology bachelors and Master's course in Global Ecology and Conservation. Nowadays, I'm obsessed with invertebrates and I spend countless hours searching for, photographing and identifying them. I adore learning as much as I can and sharing my knowledge on these so frequently overlooked species, their staggering diversity, and paramount importance to the ecosystem.”
The talk includes the opportunity for questions and discussion. There is a break for refreshments. We ask for an entry donation of £3 to cover costs of the event with any surplus being used for North Devon based conservation activities.
