Bat walk at the Otter Estuary (near Budleigh Salterton)
Event details
About the event
Join bat expert Sarah Butcher for this DWT event at the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve near Budleigh Salterton, Devon.
The reserve is a recognised important saltmarsh habitat, and has SSSI status, and is managed by the Pebblebed Heath Conservation Trust. Known for it's bird life, and for the reintroduction of beavers on the River Otter, it is also a great place to observe bat activity and we hope to discover several different species during this walk and talk event. A ranger from Pebblebed Heath Conservation Trust will join us for this event.
We will meet at the Otter Estuary Reserve Car Park at 20:30h for an introduction to bats from Sarah and to learn how to use the bat detectors. We will then walk into the reserve as dusk approaches and see what bats we can identify via their echolocation calls. Although fast, we are also likely to see them whizzing past.
We are grateful to the Pebblebed Heath Conservation Trust for working with us to hold this event at the Otter Estuary.
Tickets are available to book from 26th June.
