The wildlife garden scheme aims to reward people taking action for wildlife in their gardens at home, school or work. The scheme acts as a way for us to share and celebrate what people are doing to help wildlife in their patch and is contributing to DWT’s goal of enabling 1 in 4 people to take action for wildlife.

This role will involve helping the Wilder Communities team administrate the Wildlife Garden Award scheme, including reviewing applications, sending out plaque packs and keeping records of the number of plaques awarded and their geographic location.

An ideal candidate would:

  • have some knowledge of wildlife gardening (not essential)
  • have good organisational skills
  • be prepared to give recipients of the award the viewpoint of DWT, rather than a personal opinion
  • have good written communication skills
  • be able to work independently and unsupervised
  • be comfortable using a computer and Microsoft Office package
