About the event
Our speaker on 17th February will be Jenny Plackett from Butterfly Conservation, who will be talking about Dartmoor’s Special Butterflies.
Jenny will be focusing on some of the very rare butterflies for which Dartmoor is a national stronghold. Butterfly Conservation has been working with landowners and partner organisations over many years to help restore the fortunes of highly threatened fritillaries. We’ll look into the life cycles, distribution and special management requirements of these beautiful butterflies, and hear about the efforts underway to save them.
Jenny Plackett has been with Butterfly Conservation for sixteen years, with the first eight of those delivering the ‘Two Moors Threatened Butterfly Project’, working to restore populations of declining fritillary butterflies across Dartmoor and Exmoor. Jenny took up the role of South West Conservation Manager in 2017, with responsibility for delivery of the charity's Conservation Strategy across the South West, overseeing landscape scale projects to restore habitats for some of our most rapidly declining butterflies across the region.
No booking required, just turn up on the day.
