Tree Identification Guided Walk, Stover Country Park
About the event
Join Saving Devon's Treescapes for a guided tree identification walk at Stover Country Park, Newton Abbot. Can you tell a hazel from a beech? Or an ash tree from a rowan? You should be able to after this session!
We will be paying particular attention to the park's mature native deciduous trees, which are hugely valuable wildlife habitats in their own right, and significant players in nutrient cycling, including the carbon cycle. Yet we don't know enough about our magnificent trees - where are they, what type are they? On this walk we will also be talking about how you can help us by recording the trees which you admire using our recording platform Treescapes (devontreescapes.com). Why not take a look - you may wish to record some trees right now.
Your guide for this event is the Saving Devon's Treescapes project Treescapes Advisory Officer, Graham Beck. This session is part of Saving Devon's Treescapes spring/summer events series. The project is led by Devon Wildlife Trust on behalf of the Devon Ash Dieback Resilience Forum, and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, One Tree Planted and other funders. With thanks to the Ranger Team at Stover.
