Bovey Bat Safari
, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ
About the event
We start with an introductory talk on the work of the DWT Greater Horseshoe Bat Project as well as a giving you general information about the lives of bats that we are likely to experience in Devon. This is followed by a walk with regular stops to look for and listen to bats’ high frequency sounds using specialist detectors. Participants are usually rewarded by observing their stunning aeronautical displays. We shall be walking on rough ground in the twilight and dark so please wear stout shoes or boots as well as warm clothing and bring a torch. This event is lead by the Bovey Bat Group - members are all volunteers and part of the Bovey Tracey DWT Local Group. We are enthusiasts rather than experts who have been learning about our local bats for several years now. As such we are happy to share our knowledge and to support your engagement with these fascinating nocturnal creatures.
