Ask your MP for a strong Environment Bill

Nature is in trouble and Britain is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. For a Wilder Future where nature and the environment can be given a chance to recover from the devastating losses seen over the last 40 years we need political change and we need people to care and to act for nature’s recovery.

Now is a critical time to act for wildlife

For the first time in over 20 years, the government plans to introduce a new Environment Act this year. This could be good news for wildlife.

But the first draft they published in December last year is inadequate. It lacks real power. It risks leaving wildlife and nature in this country worse off than before.

We are asking the government to pass into law a strong Environment Act, with clear, ambitious targets for nature’s recovery; robust mechanisms for holding government and others to account when their actions damage the natural environment; and Nature Recovery Networks across the country to protect and restore wild places.

As a society we know how to put meanders back into straightened rivers and how to build bridges for wildlife. We know which wild places we should be protecting and expanding.  But we need ambitious new laws to ensure we do this, laws that ensure we map out nature’s recovery

Sir David Attenborough

We don't have long to ask for changes to be made before the Act becomes legislation.

Will you write or email your MP and ask them to insist that the Environment Act is amended, so that nature is properly protected now and in the future?
