Chudleigh Knighton Nest Quest!

Help search for and survey the rare Narrow-headed ant at its only location in the county. All welcome.

When and where

Thursday 24 August from 10.30am

Wednesday 6 Sept from 10.30am

At the Chudleigh Knighton Reserve. The best meeting point would be by the track between compartments 8 and 5, which is on the A38 side, as opposed to the Dunley Cross side, of the reserve. There is a very small area for parking there, and it might be a question of parking by the side of the road, or possibly on the B3344 roughly opposite as it goes towards Chudleigh Knighton village itself.

The day

Please wear suitable clothes and bring a drink and packed lunch if staying the day. In the morning I’ll explain a bit about the background to the ant project and the survey method, then it will take approximately 2 1/2 hours to carry out the survey, with options to continue after lunch according to levels of energy, interest and weather.

This survey is run by Buglife, an external organisation to Devon Wildlife Trust, although DWT are partners to the project. For more information, please contact the Buglife Officer for this project, Stephen Carroll (Narrow-headed Ant Back From The Brink Project Officer) by emailing
