Seaton Jurassic Education Volunteer

Help out at the Seaton Jurassic centre to educate school groups and the general public about the natural heritage of the Jurassic Coast

What the role involves:

Volunteers will be given the opportunity to help with school groups.
Your main duties will include:
• Giving or supporting guided tours of the Seaton Jurassic experience to school children incorporating their learning themes.
• Leading or helping with arts and crafts activities for school groups
• Engaging and enthusing people about our local heritage and helping them to access this.
• Leading or assisting with a range of education programmes such as rockpool rambles
Please note that some of the tasks will involve walking and working outdoors on rough terrain in all weathers.

Skills and abilities:

• Friendly, welcoming and accepting, you will enjoy meeting and talking to people and a have a good understanding of customer care
• The confidence to interact with children, visitors and communicate concisely and clearly.
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Able to stand/ be on the move for periods of time
• Willing to develop a good basic knowledge of the local heritage, and what Seaton Jurassic has to offer.
• Health & safety conscious
• Be willing to learn and use any new technology as needed
• Flexible in hours available
• Enjoy working with children
• Good team member.

When, where and how often:

This role will be based at the Seaton Jurassic Centre in East Devon, although ocassionally may help with activities in the surrounding area.

Volunteer hours for this role are flexible. We would ask you to sign up via Better Impact, our volunteer communication tool to days you are able to volunteer. There is no set pattern to school visits although we try to book them for Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
