Devon Species
Devon is one of the best places to watch wildlife in the whole of the UK. It has a wealth of different species of plants and animals. This is what is known as bio-diversity, diversity meaning range and richness and bio meaning Life.
Devon contains plant life which ranges from simple algae to towering, aged veteran trees and animal life from bacteria to giant basking sharks. Much of this richness is found in particular places where nature has thrived for centuries. DWT’s nature reserves are such places and they are a good way to start if you want to see what makes Devon special.
There are too many species to
list every one, and our species pages include a few hundred, and show
where they might be found. If you think we have missed something vital,
please let us know.
