There are many ways you can get involvedThe Devon Biodiversity Records Centre monitors the condition of current County Wildlife Sites along with identifying new ones. Why not volunteer your time to help them log the data?
Monitoring
Monitoring allows the success of individual management plans and
techniques to be assessed. It also provides a long term series of data
to assist in assessing the effects of climate change.
All of
our highest conservation value nature reserves have individual
monitoring programmes. These have two elements:
- monitoring a selection of key indicator species each year
- monitoring habitat condition every five years.
The value of monitoring is best
demonstrated on the reserves at Marsland where pearl and small pearl boardered
fritillaries have been monitored for over 20 years.
