About the event

Join bat expert Sarah Butcher for this Devon Wildlife Trust event at the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve near Budleigh Salterton, Devon.

The reserve is a recognised important saltmarsh habitat, and has SSSI (Sites of Special Scientific Interest)  status, and is managed by the Pebblebed Heath Conservation Trust. Known for its bird life, it is also a great place to observe bat activity and we hope to discover several different species during this walk and talk event.

There will be an introduction to bats from Sarah and an opportunity to  learn how to use the bat detectors. We will then walk into the reserve as dusk approaches and see what bats we can identify via their echolocation calls. Although fast, we are also likely to see them whizzing past.

Full joining instructions will be sent out a couple of days before the event.

We are grateful to the Pebblebed Heath Conservation Trust for permission to host this event at the Otter Estuary.
